My name is Isla Chase. I’m finally living my dream of working in Seattle as an assistant editor under one of the top names in the business. Finally out from the watchful eyes of those waiting for me to end up like my parents in the hick town I grew up, I was beyond ready to spread my wings.

On my first major job, I meet Decker Stevens, who is reality-show royalty and for some reason, he’s set his sights on me. With a reputation like his, I would only be setting myself up for heartbreak and the failure everyone’s expected of me all my life.

My emotions run deeper and deeper for Decker as I learn his real reasons for dropping out of the spotlight. No man should be as hot and sinfully sweet as this one is.

Just as I’m close to giving in and opening myself up for a relationship with Decker, an unspeakable tragedy occurs, rocking both our worlds. Can we hold onto each other through the madness that follows or will it destroy us?

Excerpt 1 –

“You looked like you needed company, but I wasn’t sure you wanted me here after what happened,” he said when he saw the surprise on her face. From the way they ended things the last time he was here, he didn’t want to assume. The fragile friendship that he’d worked so hard to build, the time he took to get behind her wall, could all be gone now. He didn’t want that.

“Oh.” She stepped back and allowed him to step into the kitchen.

He saw the bottle of wine and the glass on the counter, knew that even though she was happy for her sister, she ached for a child of her own. His own heart ached to see her in pain, even if she kept it well hidden. He could see the strain of it on her face, in the tightening of her lips. “Got another glass?”

“You can have a beer,” Halle said. She opened the door to the fridge and grabbed him one.

He took it as a good sign that she hadn’t thrown his beer out. Maybe she didn’t want to get rid of him just yet. After he popped the top and took a sip, he watched her pour her glass of wine and waited for her to talk. If he pestered her, she clammed up. She had to want to talk about it on her own.

“Stop looking at me like that.” She shook her head, like she was trying to block his stare.

“Like what?”

Her eyes narrowed. “Like you’re waiting on me to fall apart.”

“I’m not waiting on you to fall apart. You’re one of the strongest women I know.” He walked closer to her. She froze, glass of wine still in hand. “I’m waiting on you to tell me what’s wrong, so I can help you.”

Her eyes softened, the spite disappearing. “I’m not sure what to think about you anymore.”

Reminded of the emotional distance between them, he took a step back. He didn’t want to crowd her. “I’m still here for you, no matter what. But if you need me to leave, I can.”

She shook her head, a look of panic crossing her face. “No, don’t leave. I just…need to figure out what’s going on between us. I don’t want to lose our friendship. Luke, you have been there for me through all of this, even when I didn’t deserve it.”

“You’ve always deserved it,” he said softly. “Always.” He resisted the urge to step forward again. He wanted to pull her close, take all that pain away. Shoulder some of it for her.

“I’m not going to argue about that right now.” She drained the rest of her wine. “I still want us to be friends. When we kissed the other night, I thought maybe I was going to lose that. I need that right now. I’m not ready for another relationship, and I’m afraid if we push this, whatever this is between us, we’ll lose that. I don’t want to lose it, Luke.”

Her words pierced right through him, taking his breath. He had to catch it before he spoke again. “I don’t want to lose it either. I acted on impulse the other night, kissing you. You mean a lot to me, and if kissing you was a mistake, I can promise it won’t happen again.” He would keep the promise even if he had to develop an iron will.

Halle stared at him, not blinking, until she finally nodded. His heart started to beat again. “We can still be friends.”

He grinned at her. “Why the bottle of wine?”

She sighed. “Victoria and Nick are so happy. Everyone’s so happy, and I’m happy for them.” She took a deep breath, her chest rising and falling shakily. “It’s at times like this that I’m the most bitter. That I hate Trevor the most. He took that away from me. I could’ve had children already, but he always told me someday…when he was settled in his practice and we had time for it. We never had time for it.”

Luke’s chest ached watching emotions play across her face. Did she not see how much he hurt when she did? “You can still have children. You can adopt, or you can meet someone.”

Halle snorted. “Meet someone? I’m in no condition to start another relationship any time soon.”

“You never know.” He wanted to scream that he was right here, that he’d always been here, but she had to see it on her own. Pushing her could make him lose her forever.

Excerpt 2 –

It was weird how much Luke was at the forefront of her mind now. She drove toward his gym on her day off, wanting to say thank you for him bringing her lunch by buying his today. It was the least she could do when he was being so sweet to her. Or that’s what she told herself as she parked. It wasn’t about the kiss, or at least that’s what she convinced herself as she checked her appearance in her mirror before getting out.

The parking lot was practically full, so she had to walk from the back of the parking lot just to get to the door. Cool air enveloped her as she stepped inside. The place was busy, it looked like every machine was taken, and two men were sparring in the ring. A quick look, and she didn’t see Luke.

She did spot Matt, so she made her way over to where he was showing someone how to use the equipment. “Hey, Matt.”

Matt glanced over and grinned. “Hey, Halle. Luke’s in his office.”

“Thanks.” She turned toward the back, smoothing the skirt of the sundress she wore. It was just because it was hot outside; she wasn’t trying to impress him. The office door was shut, but as she approached it, she saw the blinds open. She slowed to a stop, her heart falling to her stomach when she saw the tall, leggy blonde standing next to him. He sat on the edge of his desk, and she was standing too close.

The blonde smiled at something Luke said and leaned closer. She wore tight black shorts, a tight racer tank, and her breasts were practically in his face. He was staring at a file in his hand, but he didn’t move away from the woman.

Halle spun on her heels and ran for the door. She felt so stupid for thinking maybe she wouldn’t be making a mistake again. Stupid for dressing up, for thinking that he cared, for coming here in the first place. Matt called out to her, but she ignored him. Once she got to her car, she took a few deep breaths. She wanted to cry, but she wasn’t going to. She’d wasted too many tears on men.
Excerpt 3 –

“Walking around in just a towel could get you in trouble.”

Halle jumped, grabbing at the towel as it fell. She pulled it around herself, knuckles white, and frowned at Trevor. “What the hell are you doing here?” A frisson of fear shot down her spine. “How did you get inside? I changed the locks.”

Trevor’s normally model-looking face was ruddy.

Halle could tell he’d been drinking, and that scared her more. He was always an asshole, but when he drank he was more of one. Not once had he hit her, but that was when he was trying to keep his good-guy façade up. She lifted her chin. “Get out. This isn’t your house anymore.”

He took a step forward, and she tightened the towel around her. “This is still my fucking house, bitch. You can’t take that away from me. I paid for it.”

“Yeah, well, now I do. You have no reason to be here.”

“What are you going to do?” He sneered at her like he used to, when it made her feel like she couldn’t do anything right.

“I’m going to call the police.” Halle moved toward her cell phone, which was on the counter.

He stepped in front of her, grabbing her arm and squeezing it hard.

She tried to yank her arm out of his grasp while still keeping the towel around her. She knew it was nothing he hadn’t seen before, but she never wanted him to see her naked again. The thought made her sick.

“I want my house back. My reputation. No one will really speak to me now that you spread lies about me.” He leaned closer, lips thin and white.

“I only told the truth.” She yanked her arm, this time hard enough to pull it free. She shoved him with her other hand and it caught him off-guard enough that he fell back. She raced to grab her keys and phone and got in her car. The only thing she could think of was to get to Luke’s. He made her feel safe.
Synopsis –

After the devastating discovery of her ex-husband’s infidelity, Halle has spent the last year and a half trying to pick up the pieces. Complicated has become her normal state of being, especially when she starts to see Luke as more than a friend.
Luke has loved Halle since the moment he laid eyes on her in high school, but has been forced to keep his distance because of her marriage. Now that she’s single again, he’s hoping for the opportunity to finally make his move. Despite his questionable past, Luke knows it’s going to take a lot for Halle to open herself up and learn to trust him. Will he be able to break through the walls she’s built around her heart?
When sparks fly between Halle and Luke, will they be able to overcome the obstacles in their path and find the no-holds-barred love they both deserve? Or will everything come tumbling down around them?

Billie wasn’t in Miami for more than a month before she knew she had to move away again. She still felt in need of new scenery. But where to next? She mulled on it for a few days, but nothing jumped out. Jasmin had suggested Alaska, but Billie wasn’t in the mood for somewhere so cold. Then it hit her. She remembered a conversation with David, and it provided the exact inspiration she was looking for!
Oh, how she wished she could talk to him, but of course, she couldn’t. Instead, she did the only thing she could do, and went down to his burial site to connect with him. This wasn’t the first time that Billie visited David’s grave, but it was rare for her to do so. At the time of his death, she would have preferred to have him cremated, but David’s mother, a staunch Catholic, was adamant that her son have a traditional burial. Billie had conceded. It wasn’t that important to her. David was dead. That was all that really mattered at the time.
Yet now, almost four years later, she found herself glad that she let David’s mother have her way at the time. Billie was glad there was a place she could go to speak to his spirit. So much had happened since her last visit. Besides, she wanted to tell him her idea.
The Mount Pleasant Cemetery was a beautiful peaceful place with big oak trees lining each row of headstones. It was apparent that family members came by often as many of the sites were adorned with fresh-cut flowers. The grass was well manicured and the leaves cleaned up regularly. She drove there in her rental car and wiped away tears before even stepping out of the vehicle. Toughen up, she told herself.
When she got to his headstone, she sat down in the grass beside it. It was a warm sunny day with a light breeze, and the grass was free of any residual morning dew. She got comfortable with her legs crossed, and with no one in the vicinity, she decided to speak out loud.
“Hey sweetheart. I brought you my favorite flowers. I know you were never into flowers, so I brought you the ones you used to buy for me. Fresh daisies for you, my love. Don’t roll your eyes at me. How’s life in heaven? Can you see me from up there? I try to be strong for you. Some days if I think you might be watching down on me, I make sure not to cry. I know you hated seeing me cry. I wish I knew if you were watching me.

Excerpt 1 –

Addie shook her head, smiling. Tonight was definitely going to be fun. All she had to decide was which one of the boys she wanted to take home. Carter and Brandon seemed to be claimed already, and she wasn’t the kind of girl to step in on her friends’ territories. The silent redhead off to the side wasn’t an option.  He wasn’t paying attention to anything but his drink. Two other guys stood near a dark corner, arms crossed. They both wore identical grins on their faces, twins down to the matching firefighter t-shirts they wore.

That would explain the amount of muscle and camaraderie. Addie sidled over, smiled at them. “Hey, boys. Mind if I stand over here with you?”

“Not at all,” the one on the left said.

“Want a stool?” the other one turned to the darkened corner. “Finn, be a gentleman and give the beautiful lady your seat.”

“Fine,” someone spoke from the darkness.

Addie’s body snapped to attention, and her lips parted. The husky voice brushed over her nerve endings and lit a fire in her blood. She leaned toward the darkness to glimpse the owner.

The stool came out first, held by a pair of strong hands. Her eyes traveled up the tattooed arms, almost gasping at the muscles, to the short sleeves of his navy t-shirt. When he emerged fully, she resisted the urge to bite her lip, a free invitation to guys like him.

He had short blond hair and intense green eyes. The eyes weren’t welcoming, and in that instant she saw an ocean of pain before he blinked it away and scowled at her.

That brought her attention to his full lips. Lips that would’ve made him look almost girlish if not for the short blond stubble.

“Here.” He held out the stool. “I’m going to get a drink.”

He brushed past her, and Addie inhaled the spicy scent he wore. She took a deep breath, trying to calm the shock of emotions he’d woken in her from that one glance. He looked like trouble, more than she wanted to get into. Something that would be much more than a few nights of fun. She shook it off and, looked back at the twins.

“Let’s start our own bet, boys.” She shot them a mischievous grin.
Excerpt 2 –

“Hey, are you okay?” Addie appeared next to him, sank down.

He hated seeing the worried look in her eyes, just like his sisters. “Fine.”

Addie placed a hand on his.

The panic evaporated. Just like that, from the feel of their skin touching. His eyes widened as he looked into her calm face. There was no pity in her eyes, and that’s what sold him.

He pulled her onto his lap, his hand going to the back of her neck. Her lips pressed to his before he could pull her closer. A thrill shot through him at her boldness. She settled on top of him and dug her fingers into his hair.

His tongue slipped into her mouth, a teasing exploration, as one hand slid up her thigh to her waist. She nipped his lower lip and pressed closer. The center of her sweats rubbed against the bulge in his jeans, and he lost his breath.

She smirked against his lips and moved against him, letting his tongue swipe over hers. His hands tightened on her waist when she pulled back a little.

“I have to eat something first. Just because you brought me a kitten doesn’t mean I’m going to fall into bed with you. You have to buy me dinner a few times first.” Addie slid off his lap.

He ran a hand through his hair, tried to get a handle on his breathing. Jesus Christ, she was a ball of fire. He didn’t know how to handle the emotions running through him.
Excerpt 3 –  18+

They went inside for a late lunch of sandwiches and chips and then started showering. Addie quickly bathed so that the others could get clean and went to her room wrapped in a towel.

As she shut the door, a hand grabbed her shoulder, spinning her around. Her hands clutched the towel, but she was prepared to beat ass if she needed to. She relaxed for a second when Finn’s green eyes met hers. “Hey.”

He didn’t say anything. His eyes dipped down, and she felt the caress of the gaze on her breasts above the towel. With one hand he brushed hers aside and opened the towel. Addie was trapped in his stare, and her breathing turned ragged. His other hand dove into her hair, and he crushed his mouth to hers. She responded instantly, not realizing until that moment how bad she wanted this. Having him close, him touching her.

The towel dropped to the floor, and she didn’t care that she was naked or that the wood of the door was cold on her back. He was hot enough to make up for it. When he pulled away, she frowned.

“Do you know how hard it was to not drag you up here all day?” Finn pushed his shorts down, and she saw he was already hard, his erection jutting up between them. The iron hard velvet skin pulsed against her stomach. He kissed her again, pressing her against him. He broke free of the kiss long enough to put a condom on. “Wrap your leg around my waist. Fuck, you’re already wet.”

His words made her moan into his mouth. His cock pressed against that wetness and she whimpered. For not knowing she wanted this, she was suddenly an addict. Her head leaned back, exposing her neck, as he slid inside her. This time his movements spoke of desperation she also felt.

Her hands went into his hair, holding on as he moved inside of her. There was no gentle Finn this time, this was more of what she’d expected. She bit her lip and laid her head on his shoulder to muffle part of the cries she couldn’t hold in. The house around her disappeared; he was all she saw. All she felt around her.

When his lips touched her neck and his tongue darted out, she shattered, tightening around his cock. He swore in a desperate whisper before he followed her, thrusting a few more times.

Addie held onto him, knowing if she let him go, she’d become a puddle on the floor. He kissed her neck tenderly before sighing.

“I couldn’t stand it anymore.”

That was all he said, but the emotion behind it brought hot tears to her eyes. She wasn’t a crier, never had been, but something in his voice sparked her own emotions. She bit down on her lip to stop the tears, then leaned back and looked at him. “It’s okay; I was hoping last night wasn’t an isolated event.”

His crooked grin had her smiling in return. “You are addicting, Addie.”

Synopsis –

Addie’s focus is on teaching her third grade class, partying with her friends, and spending time with her family. She doesn’t mind taking a guy home, as long as he doesn’t get crazy and suggest something more. If they do, she kicks them to the curb, happy to be on her own.

Firefighter Finn left the nightmares of war behind, moving to Sanctuary Bay to be with his two youngest sisters. He’s trying to act normal and like the hell of war isn’t breathing down his neck with every step he takes.

They meet in a bar, both fighting their immediate attraction with sarcasm and arguments. Neither wants to pursue anything more, but fate has other plans. As friends throw them together and they finally realize how good they can be together, can they survive the obstacles life throws at them?

A thick envelope full of paperwork arrived the next morning. Having been delivered by a lawyer, she didn’t have to look inside to know what it contained. The whole thing gave her an ugly feeling inside. The multi-national mining company that David had worked for, MGGP Minerals, had been more than fair. The accident happened on company time, while David was visiting a mining site that was on the verge of going into production. As a V.P., he had a lot of stock options, which had tripled in value during his tenure. He was also heavily insured both personally, and professionally. All told, Biljana Stevens was getting a settlement worth $6.4 million dollars. At only 28 years of age, it was enough that she didn’t have to work another day for the rest of her life.
She signed the series of documents, all the while thinking that she’d happily trade in every penny of the money, if she could just get David back. But life doesn’t work that way. Life charts its own course. You have some control over it, but barely. At best, you’re a backseat driver. You can make insistent suggestions and requests, but ultimately life takes you wherever the fuck it wants.
Biljana was now quite rich, but barely alive. Physically she was present, but emotionally she was vacant. She would lie awake most nights with no regulated sleep schedule. The only time she put on a brave face, was when her mother called from Seattle. “Oh, I’m okay Mom,” she would say, trying to sound upbeat. “I’m going to go for a nice long walk today.” In reality, this meant she was going to walk to the elevator, and then down to get the mail. The color had left the sky in her world. Food tasted bland. Music became muzak. Movies helped simply because they had pictures and sound. Books were okay too, except oftentimes she’d have to re-read a page because her mind had drifted off somewhere else, as she lost track of the story.
